Three more Olympics warm-up events announced

Building on the success of the first File a Flight Plan Day in November 2011, three further events, aimed at preparing UK airspace users and service providers for the major changes being introduced during the Olympics, have been announced today. Included is a test of the full Atlas Control flight planning and air traffic control system on Friday 13th July.

CAA launch self-assessment test for laser-dazzled pilots

The CAA has developed a self-assessment tool for flight crew, to determine the likelihood of pilots having sustained eye damage following a laser attack on their aircraft. Over recent years, the deliberate targeting of aeroplanes and helicopters in flight with lasers by individuals on the ground has become a major global problem for the aviation industry.
