Manston airport could close within weeks

Kent's loss-making Manston Airport could close as early as 9th April, according to media reports, with up to 150 jobs under threat. Manston has the fourth-longest runway in the country, and acts as a major diversion field and a search and rescue base. However, the airport has reportedly been experiencing "ongoing operational losses" of £10,000 a day under its new owner.

Jersey charity launches 2014's flying scholarships for the disabled

Jersey light aviation charity Helping Wings has announced its 2014 bursary, open to local disabled people – worth approximately £1600 towards the costs of 10 hours of flight training with Jersey Aero Club. This scholarship aims to enable the successful candidate to complete enough training to be at, or close to, the point where they are ready to fly solo.
