Heli UK Expo Challenge Cup event cancelled at last minute

In a message sent out by the Helicopter Club of Great Britain just two days before the event, Chairman David Phipps said "I regret to inform you that the 3rd Heli UK Expo Challenge Cup helicopter races scheduled to take place as part of Aero and Heli Expo at Sywell on the 1st and 2nd of July have, as of this afternoon, been cancelled by the airfield management".

Piper Aircraft have announced that the company's newest flagship, the Piper M600, has received type certification from the FAA’s. Piper Aircraft, Inc. and the FAA made the announcement today at the company's headquarters in Vero Beach, Florida.

Solar Impulse 2 takes off from New York

Solar Impulse 2 has now departed from JFK Airport, New York to continue its journey around the world. Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg will be attempting cross the Atlantic Ocean and land at Seville Airport in Spain on 23 June. The four day and four night flight will be non-stop and is expected to be one of the most challenging legs of the trip for the two pioneering pilots.

‘Liz Inwood Taildragger Scholarship’ announced by Vintage Aircraft Club

The Vintage Aircraft Club has announced its first-ever flying scholarship. The Liz Inwood ‘Taildragger’ Scholarship, named in memory of the late Tiger Moth pilot and flying instructor Liz Inwood, will offer five hours flying to a PPL, NPPL or LAPL license holder under the age of 35, to assist them in transitioning from typical flying club nose wheel designs to older tailwheel types, potentially opening the door to flying a wider range of vintage and classic types.

First production Cirrus Vision Jet flies

The first production Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet flew from the manufacturer’s Duluth, Minnesota, facility on 5 May, as the Federal Aviation Administration certification programme enters its final phase, nine years after the project was started. The three previous production-conforming aircraft have completed over 1,000 hours of flight testing since the first flew in March 2014.
