Potential reprieve for Panshanger Aerodrome?

Pilot has heard from the Light Aircraft Association and other sources that Welwyn and Hatfield Council have announced a review of the their housing plans that may lead to a reprieve for the airfield, which until its forced closure by the land owners in late 2014, was a key location for sport flying in the north London and Hertfordshire areas.
EU funding for 8.33 kHz radio equipage

The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed on 20 July that, subject to contract, EU funds will be made available to the Authority to help private pilots and aircraft owners move to 8.33 kHz radios. All aircraft registered in the EU need to be fitted with 8.33 kHz equipment by December 2017.
CAA Medical self-declaration for legacy UK PPLs/NPPLs will begin this summer

The widely anticipated move will lead to both cost and time savings for private pilots flying on 'national' licences and, in most cases, remove the need for General Practitioner or Authorised Medical Examiner involvement in the process. The change follows a public consultation, in which 96 per cent of those responding agreed with the proposal.

Bombardier is to sell its amphibious aircraft programme to Viking Air Ltd. The agreement covers the type certificates for all variants of the CL-215, CL-215T and Bombardier 415, which are used worldwide as water bombers for firefighting.
