Airlander makes first flight, suffers accident on second

The Airlander 10 airship made its first flight on 17 August. It took off from Cardington in Bedfordshire at 19.45 and returned to land after a nineteen-minute flight – shorter than planned because of a late start and the need to return before dark. A week later it was damaged in a landing accident.

Solo pilot Colin Hales continues his homebuilt aircraft world tour

At 1.00pm Alaskan time (10.00pm tonight in the UK), Colin Hales, a 46 year old aircraft mechanic from Staffordshire, will depart from Nome Airport, Western Alaska and head westward in his homebuilt KR2, continuing the world tour he embarked upon in 2014, crossing the Atlantic and North America. His intention is to cross the Bering Straight and fly through Russian Federation Airspace, en route to China.

First flight for the Airlander 10
