Bristol hot-air balloon manufacturer celebrates 40th birthday
Bristol-based hot-air balloon manufacturer Cameron Balloons this month celebrates its 40th birthday.
Don Cameron built his first balloon in 1966, but it was a further five years before he incorporated the business that has grown into the largest hot-air balloon manufacturer in the world.
To mark the anniversary of the company's foundation, the Lord Mayor of Bristol was shown around the factory on 1st April, watching many of the staff at work. Later he cut two birthday cakes that had been made by Cherry Richards, who works as a cutter at the factory. These were then shared among guests and staff, who toasted the success of the business in champagne.
The company has produced a commemorative limited edition Cameron flight bag in black carrying the 40th anniversary logo, as well as limited edition anniversary pins and patches for collectors.
