Cranfield to install DME?
It now appears that after much debate Cranfield is seriously considering installing DME. This is a much welcomed development that will please many student pilots that fly out of cranfield on a daily basis.
Ideally Cranfield would much benefit from radar, as would most airports, but given that Cranfield is such a busy training airport radar would resolve many of the daily problems that arise at cranfield due to the generally high volume of traffic on nice days. Although there has been no confirmation that DME will be installed, there have been 'whispers' around the airfield for some time that it's not a case of IF but When. Safe Flying.
