Great Aerodrome to visit. Flew in formation along wit another C172 and the standard of runway was great not to mention it’s extremely scenic. The handler on tower was good but could be friendlier however I won’t hold that against them as we all have bad days. The ground staff couldn’t have been friendlier when we arrived. Landing fee of £21 was ok but would expect cheaper fir GA at an extremely quiet Aerodrome. Not great facilities for food / drink, it’s literally an honesty box and make your own coffee however this is expected from an Aerodrome with little traffic. We where lucky enough to arrive as the twin otter was too so we even got a guided tour of the otter thanks to the Loganair staff. Overall good experience and one i’d Recommend to all

Visited Glasgow Airport on 17th September.

Used Signature Aviation for handling, which is pricey but they do take care of everything.

Flew up from Blackpool Airport and called up Glasgow App 10 miles from the VRP (East Kilbride) for the entry lane (you need to be familiar with Glasgow’s entry / exit lanes).

Very easy entry and held at Kingston Bridge VRP for 5 mins to get slotted in between the commercial traffic.

Great airfield, great ATC and very welcoming.

They even laid on the ‘follow me’ truck, which was a first

Visited Strubby airfield on 28/08/2019 on a short flight from Netherthorpe (EGNF) in G-ROLY, a C172. This was again as a passenger while Lyndon built some hours to renew his SEP rating. A cold front was moving in from lunchtime so the 0.7 hour flight was ideal. PPR was a breeze to obtain from a very friendly Mervyn from the Pooleys plate and he explained how to gain access to the onsite facilities.

A nice flying morning and downwind right hand join followed from the north (gliders operate to the south and be careful not to confuse Strubby North with Strubby south which has a larger runway). The runways were both great and parking easy. The radio was not manned so blind calls were made. A motor glider was performing circuits to the south on our arrival.

We helped ourselves to drinks and snacks and later sent the landing fee and other monies via bank transfer electronically (a first for us in relation to landing fees but very useful!).

We could see push bikes available to borrow and we have since seen that a beach was only a few miles away so we will return soon enough we hope.

The return flight was via the east coast to look at some other airfields (Croft was one of them) from the air to plan future visits. We then routes via Mablethorpe, Spurn Point, Humberside and Doncaster Sheffield before a couple of circuits at Netherthorpe prior to the cold front settling in.

A great airfield with helpful PPR and very GA friendly.

Visited over the bank holiday as part of a club flyout from Gamston Flying School in the Arrow, Gamston to TNT, then south of Hawarden to Bangor (Rhyl airshow was notamed so kept further south), then coastline past the town and across the bay. Airfield very easy to spot due to the flat surrounding terrain, coast and those massive windmills. Overhead join for Runway 25 then quite a tight circuit and down over the caravan park being mindful of the displaced threshold.

Airfield itself looks really nicely kept, lots of new looking buildings, the air ambulance and the Bristow coastguard base. Stands and taxiways are clearly marked and runways and taxiways are in good smooth condition. Signs up everywhere for £20 fine for not wearing hi viz's (quick run back to the aircraft before anyone noticed!) Cafe on site very nice, it's about a 30 minute walk along the beach to quite a nice chippy and ice cream place.

Departing as it was hot and we were heavy I asked if I could use R20, which is longer and would have had 10 kts straight down it and was told no because of the wind turbines and turbulence coming off them, which is a shame as we wouldn't have been airborne until well upwind of the turbines so took the short runway and crosswind instead and climb out over the sea.

Lovely place to visit - we got lucky with the weather so could enjoy the stunning scenery.
