Recent change of operator. Excellent 1200m asphalt runway and great little cafe with outside seating area. Small donation appreciated for landing fee. No PPR required and just make standard calls on Safetycom. They don't have a website or Facebook page yet but will happily take a call before you go to advise on weather etc (01832 205054).

Just spent a few days at The Point (formerly Roserrow) rented one of their chalets which was superb. Not cheap but they did waive the landing and parking fees. The runway was well cut and tidy but does slope slightly down from East to West and up from both ends so can be difficult to keep perspective in the hold off. The road that now crosses the runway is far from flush with the grass surface and is particularly marked if approaching from the South. I fly a 912 Skyranger and there was more than enough grass north of the road but when leaving I went and taxied across it and found I needed 4500 revs to get up from the grass to tarmac going north. Definitely a ski ramp if you touch down before and cross it at any speed.

The bushes have now grown up to be level with the bottom of the windsock which was broken in that it could not swivel on the pole.

If you camp under the wing landing with overnight parking is £29 which also gives you access to the health club facilities. We used the gym sauna pool and steam room. All in beautiful surroundings so well worth an overnight.

Finally got up to East Kirkby airfield and museum. well worth the effort.

Suggest you visit the website as Poolys is not up to date (even on Sky Demon). circuit height depends on whether the MATZ is active and is either 500' or 800'.

I was a bit thrown by the lack of any numbers or runway markings - its essentially just a field but its in good shape with good approaches.

Museum / heritage centre is excellent

I satisfied a long held desire to land here, virtually at my childhood home, having flown from Wycombe Air Park. It only took three days to get there but that wasn't the fault of the airfield.

The welcome is very friendly. I had visited (by road) previously and had names and numbers and throughout my tribulationd getting there I was given continual assistance by the staff.

A fabulous historic site - adjacent to the museum exhibiting the Scotish Concorde - with a Vulcan, Comet and 1-11 out on the old apron.

The runways are short and the noise abatment needs to be paid attention to but it was easy enough in my Eurostar. Wonderful landscape and coastline nearby.

Went into Fishburn as something of a diversion, since earlier sectors had gone pear shaped. As it turned out I was there for two nights as weather further north was a problem.

The staff there could not be more friendly and the field is a delight, including the new cafe.

When we made an abortive attempt to go further north and had to return, they would not take another landing fee.

Sloping runway and adjacent power lines need to be looked out for, however.
